The large existing front garden area of this home was nothing but dead or dying grass. There were no plantings and the house was open to the street and very exposed. The Homeowner applied for, and received the Grass Removal Rebate from the City. We removed all the remaining grass off the property and trimmed and shaped the few plants that were going to stay. We started the project by grading out for the new 60 foot long stream, designed to run from the newly extended front patio to the lower area of the garden. We created the water basin and installed all the electrical and plumbing to get the water from the basin to the spillway up at the top. We installed the liner and all the rocks to create a natural looking stream running through the garden. We then installed a meandering Decomposed Granite path leading from the newly widened brick front path, over a Large Blue Stone Slab bridge, and through the garden to the side of the house. Along the path we created a patio area below a tree swing. We graded the ground to create mounds and installed Pressure-Treated wood walls to retain some of the slope and create contours in the landscape. A new Low Water irrigation system was installed throughout the garden to more efficiently water the new plantings. The plantings of this garden were selected to be both low water and lower maintenance. We planted a selection of grasses and flowering plants to fill out the garden. Plants were also selected to provide a screen from the busy road. We removed the old concrete driveway and replaced with a large Acid Washed driveway and path leading around the house. The large dirt parking area was compacted and a Pea Gravel layer was installed. Fence sections were also installed to create some privacy from the house behind. The garden has grown in very quickly creating a fantastic garden space and the privacy screen the homeowners required.
