The purpose of this garden was to create a space where the family could relax, entertain and play together. The design was planned and implemented with areas dedicated to these ideals.
Directly off the house is a large patio area with plenty of space for the kids to ride their bikes. A meandering concrete path winds its way all around the property giving the kids a great riding track. The path is sign posted with the family and children?s names. The second area of the garden is a large open flat grass area perfect for running and playing. The third area is a large shaded pergola area, separated from the lawn by a large sparkling pool. It is perfect for adult entertaining with all the needed amenities. The back of the garden is planted with mature citrus trees.
The focus of the garden is the large play structure and sandpit area. The play equipment sits on a composite soft rubber play surface. Overhead is a shade sail installed to provide the perfect play area for the kids.
Details of this garden add to the playfulness of the whole space. A water fountain to refresh the kids, a trampoline to jump on and a large kitchen garden complete with flourishing vegetables and chickens.

Spanish Style
The new owners of this great old home did a complete remodel returning the home to a grand Spanish style villa. The plan for the garden was to reflect the style of the home, provide a great entertaining space, and complement the refurbished and added details. At the same time create a family garden where the children could play and the adults entertain and relax.
The focus of the front garden was to create a warm inviting rustic style entrance emphasizing the grand old olive tree and the new feature fountain and pot collection. The plants here are grasses, sage, lavender and roses with rosemary and verbena tumbling over the wood and rock walls.
The highlight of the front area is the 5 pot water and plant feature, set at the top of a flight of Saltillo and detail tile steps. Water spills over two of the pots while the remaining three are planted out. The colors of the pots reflect the colors of the detail tiles.
The property was lined with a hedge of Carolina Cherry to provide a plant screen for the garden area. A large patio of pavers and detail stone trim and ribbons was installed to form a large patio space. The same materials were used to create paths through the lawn area and around to the private back garden area of the house.
This property sits on a buys corner and to further emphasize the focus of this renovated and special property the long parkway areas of this property were removed of all the grass and planted out with large quantities of low maintenance plants and groundcovers.

Shade Please
This home needed a new garden, but the most important thing the homeowners needed was shade. The front door of this home was exposed to the elements. There were short and steep steps and a narrow path leading to the front door. The large concrete back patio was open, bare and complete open to the afternoon sun. The back of the house took a beating from the elements.
In the front of the home we extended the front steps out to create a welcoming porch. We constructed a portico over the porch to match with the style of the home. The path was repositioned and widened and the whole area was covered in a natural flagstone material.
The back patio of the house was covered with a large pergola structure. Parts of the structure was given a solid roof to create an outdoor room feel, the rest was done with a small gap to ensure shade over the patio. The steps to the house were widened and deepened to make a more comfortable passage. The entire patio was covered with a natural flagstone. On the one side of this new patio area an outdoor kitchen was built. It included a BBQ, sink, fridge, and raised bar counter. It was finished with a stacked stone façade and a polished concrete counter top. Finally we added a great outdoor seating set to create the perfect outdoor patio area.
Off the new patio area a vegetable and herb garden was planted using old wine barrels as the planters. A fountain was placed in the middle of this area.
The garden was given a whole new set of plantings and trees to complete the new revitalized look.
