This project transformed a tired and underused backyard in to a tropical planted garden pool paradise.
All the existing plant materials as well as all the existing fences were removed and the site cleared. The new fences were constructed. Then the pool, Jacuzzi and new patio were installed. The pool has a low rock wall and water spill from the Jacuzzi into the pool.
The planting design of this garden was to create a lush tropical planted pool side and provide a lush green lawn area. Plants with bold leaf size shape and color were selected and some Queen palms were planted to give some height behind the planting.

Low Water and Much Needed Parking Westwood This home, on a busy street had a long and very narrow driveway. The homeowners wish was to create a place to park the cars off the street but at the same time, not loose the natural feel to the front garden area. The plantings were designed to be low maintenance and low water. We designed and constructed the garden to provide all these requirements. The existing concrete drive was removed and a new “grass-crete” drive was installed to allow for two cars to be parked side by side. This was then seeded with a quick growing and strong grass. The Garden area was stripped of the existing lawn. The earth was mounded in areas to provide some form to the space and to create areas for the plants to grow. Tall Dodoneas were planted to give some privacy to the front window and to screen off the street. New Zealand Flax was planted to give some architectural lines to the planting. Masses of Mexican sage and Green and Purple Fountain grasses were planted to give great color and add movement. African daisies and Gazania were planted as the ground cover. The area was covered with a thick layer of mulch to help reduce the required watering.

The back garden area of this grand home/ yoga studio was a run down dirt patch used as a car park. The design concept of this space was to create a space that was clean and neat with lines that reflected the scale of the house. The aim was to give the impression of a large green back garden area but at the same time provide a paved surface to allow for easy foot access to the house as well as to allow for some additional parking if required. The existing gate was moved and the driveway widened to provide a larger turning circle. We then laid 2foot square Jerusalem Stone paver in a grid pattern over the area leaving an 8” space between the blocks. Grass was then laid in the space to provide the green mass to the area. The existing and original fountain was left as is in the space and the pavers laid around it.
